Location mock

Android’s mock location feature allows an app to replace the device’s built-in GPS position with an external location source. By enabling location mock in the GEOSTIX APP, you make the GEOSTIX receiver’s precise GNSS position available to any app on your device — mapping apps, GIS field tools, navigation, or any other location-based application — without those apps needing to support Bluetooth GNSS receivers directly.

Before enabling location mock in the app, you must allow the GEOSTIX APP to provide mock locations at the Android system level.

  1. Enable Developer Options on your device.

Go to Settings > About phone (or Software information on some devices) and tap the Build number 7 times. A message will confirm that Developer Options are now enabled.

  2. Select the GEOSTIX APP as mock location app.

Go to Settings > System > Developer options (the exact path may vary by device manufacturer) and tap Select mock location app. Choose GEOSTIX from the list.

  1. Open the Settings tab.

In the GEOSTIX APP, navigate to the Settings tab.

  2. Enable Location Mock.

Tap Location Mock and toggle the switch on. The app will now feed the receiver’s position to Android as the device location.
