Power On/Off with a Magnet

When the base socket is not available, the GEOSTIX can be powered on and off with a simple magnet, by holding it near the charge indicator on the rear of the device.

Locate the charge indicator

The charge indicator is the small green LED on the rear panel, next to the GEOSTIX logo. See LEDs, Status Indicators for reference.

No magnet at hand?

The magnetic tip of the GEOSTIX charging cable can be used as a magnet for this purpose.

Power on

1. Hold the magnet next to the charge indicator for a moment. The device powers on.

Power off

Powering off requires a short two-pass sequence with the magnet:

1. First pass: bring the magnet close to the charge indicator, then move it away.
2. Second pass: bring the magnet close again, and hold it there for at least 1 second.

Timing matters

The whole sequence (first pass, removal, and second pass) must be completed within 5 seconds. If too much time elapses between the two passes, the device will not power off and the sequence must be restarted.
